Veneto Vetro also deals with the supply of heat strengthened  glass, i.e. a type of glass manufactured with a process similar to thermal tempering. The difference between tempered and hardened glass is that the latter is obtained through a slower cooling process than that of the tempering process.

Performance is also different: flexural (or bend) strength is in fact about half that of tempered glass and the superficial distortion is lower. Hardened glass is used to prevent thermal stress problems and when the safety features typical of tempered glass are not required.

Unlike tempered glass, hardened glass has also the advantage of not having problems of spontaneous breakage, of offering a greater mechanical resistance than annealed glass and of having less distortion of the reflected image.
