Chemical strenghtening
Glass chemical strengthening, also known as chemical tempering, is a truly unique processing method.
Immersing glass in a salt bath causes an ion exchange on the surface that strengthens the glass pane, offering significant advantages over thermal tempering:
- Greater strength and flexibility
- Improved optical quality
- Unlimited application to all geometries
- Reduced weight in laminated glass compositions, as it allows achieving the same strength requirements with thinner thicknesses
Due to these characteristics, chemical strengthening is an ideal process for high-end nautical projects, with both flat and curved glass or special geometries.
Thanks to chemical strengthening, it is possible to create highly innovative designs, ensuring maximum aesthetic performance while simultaneously reducing the overall weight on board.
The benefits of chemically strengthened glass are not limited to the nautical sector but extend to a wide range of applications: from high-security bulletproof glass to the automotive industry, from designer furniture to the smartphones and tablets we use daily.
Veneto Vetro is among the few companies in Italy and Europe capable of offering this exceptional processing.
