HST - Heat Soak Test

The Heat Soak Test (HST) is a test performed on tempered glass, to reduce the risk of the pane breaking spontaneously to a minimum. Veneto Vetro carries out this test at the customer’s request and recommends it in all risk situations, to guarantee that its items last over time.

The test consists in a heating cycle and maintaining panes at a temperature of 290°C . It is performed to speed up the breakage of tempered glass panels which would break spontaneously over time. It enables eliminating more than 99% panes expected to break, because of Nickel Sulphide (NiS) created by particles of Sulphur and Nickel which inevitably end up in the glass mass when panes are produced. The HST is regulated by UNI EN 14179. It is obligatory for panes to be used on the facades of buildings. Maximum glass sizes are 2300 x 5500 mm.
